How often should you clean your carpets professionally? To keep your carpets at their best we recommend that in households of up to 2 persons every 6-12months and where there are young children every 6 months.
With pets and children we recommend at least every 3-6months.

The following simple tips will help you improve the appearance of your carpeting and upholstery while also extending their life:

Entrance Mats – Using entrance mats inside and outside of doorways will reduce the amount of soil brought onto your carpet. As much as 75% of the dirt and grime in your carpet is tracked-in soil.

Vacuuming – A clean carpet is one that is taken care of. Take the time to vacuum often enough and make sure to do it correctly. That means going over the floor in several directions to allow the vacuum to pick up all the debris it can. A high quality vacuum is the best choice. Make sure to use it correctly as you are directed by the manufacturer. Also, make sure to keep the bags or containers empty and filters clean as well.
Nothing is more important for maintaining beautiful, long lasting carpet than vacuuming. Dry soil is abrasive and can actually damage carpet fibers, causing accelerated wear. In addition to creating a dingy, poor appearance, dry soil will also diminish the effectiveness of your stain-resistant protective coating. A vacuum with a beater bar will give the best results.

Professional Cleaning – Periodically, have your carpet and upholstery professionally cleaned. Carpet manufacturers recommend hot water extraction (at least once a year) as the best method for cleaning carpet, and many require hot water extraction cleaning as a warranty requirement. Do not use do-it-yourself wet shampooing or dry cleaning methods on carpets. They can leave a residue which actually attracts and holds dirt.

Clean Up Spills Immediately – The quicker you attend a spill, the easier it is to remove. Always blot the spill. Use a clean, white absorbent cloth. Never rub or use a brush. Rubbing can actually make the stain worse and permanently alter the look of the carpet fiber or fabric.

Carpet and Fabric Protection – Carpet/Fabric Protector is the perfect solution for protecting your carpets and upholstery from soil and stains. It also helps to extend the life of your carpet and upholstery by making the removal of dirt easier, and by helping restore stain blocking performance for easier food and spot removal.

Have a tricky spill you need assistance with? Spotless Carpets does not recommend using over-the-counter spot removers, which tend to leave a residue or even set or bleach out a stain.

Advice on how to clean a fresh coffee, tea, or wine spill

Place a damp white towel on the spot and weight the towel down. This will keep the spot damp and easier to remove when we arrive.
If you feel the need to do more, liberally apply common table salt to the spot. The salt will absorb much of the spill, allowing better success when we arrive to perform spot removal.

Removing Wax from Carpet

There are several different ways to remove wax from carpet.

One of the easiest is to use an iron. Before you attempt this method you must read the full instructions first.  You don’t after all want to burn your carpet.

Take a white towel or cloth and dampen it well. Now turn the iron on to the lowest setting.  Wait a minute until the iron is hot.  Be sure you have water in the iron as well because you may need the steam.

Now and fold the towel over double and place over the wax.  If the towel is thin feel free to fold it over again.  Place the iron on the cloth or towel and work the iron in a circular motion.  Do not leave the iron in one spot keep it moving, or you will singe your carpet.   After about ten seconds lift the towel and see if any of the wax has come off.  If it has then rotate the towel to an area that is clean.

You may have to repeat this process several times.  Depending on your iron you may need to turn the heat up a little.  Always start at the lowest setting because you do not want to accidentally singe the carpet.

After a few attempts you should be able to remove wax from carpet with easy.
